A professional quality open reel fibreglass surveyors’ tape from this incredibly innovative manufacturer, this Komelon tape offers quite exceptional value for money when you consider the features on offer.
Komelon actually invented the very first fibreglass tape measure and have continued to develop the concept ever since. The features available on this, the 50m version, would not be out of place on considerably more expensive tapes of the same length.
The 50m/165 ft long blade features metric markings on one side and imperial on the other side. The two sides are different colours to avoid confusion brought about by the blade twisting in the wind.
The blade is made from double-coated fibreglass to help protect it against the effects of chemical and/or mechanical abrasion. The fibreglass has a very high strand count which helps it to resist stretching very well indeed. Six individual layers make up the blade; firstly the fiberglass itself, then a permanent glue, then the PVC coating, ink/paint, a transparent PVC layer and then a glare-resistant embossed finish.
Unlike other tapes around this price bracket the Komelon is guaranteed as accurate to EC Class II making it more accurate than its more-expensive Stanley equivalent.
The blade is protected by a heavy duty impact-resistant case made from ABS plastic which also features rubber bumpers/buffers to help absorb impacts even further. A 3x geared mechanism rewinds the blade very quickly indeed whilst durable rollers help prevent it twisting on its return.\
